Students who live in Sandburg Hall sometimes hang out on the couches in the front lobby, though these days they're not taking advantage of them nearly enough. It's a bright and cheery place, and they should be sitting and talking to each other.
During the 33 years I taught at UWM, I always enjoyed talking to students, and while sculpting this piece, I saw this hasn't changed. And the wonder and involvement of the students hasn't changed. The sculpture is made to celebrate this.
